“Dear God. . .“
Specific Prayers for the Persecuted Church

Ask God to give courage to those whose witness for Christ puts them and their families at risk.
        “But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are
        blessed. Do no fear what they fear; do not be
        frightened.” 1 Peter 3:14
Request that God grant perseverance to people who dare to contradict the religious restraints placed on them by their societies.
       “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
        I have overcome the world.” John 16:33b
Pray for God to heal the people whose bodies have been tortured or maimed because they will not recant their love for Jesus.
        “.. . pray for each other that you may be healed. The
        prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
         James 5:16b
Plead for peace and protection for those who live in countries whose governments are hostile to believers.
        “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city
        . . . Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers,
         you too will prosper. Jeremiah 29:7
Pray for the families, house churches, and congregations whose leaders are behind bars. Ask God to supply their physical and financial needs.
         “The. Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because
         the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to
         the poor. He has sent me to bind up the
         brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the
         captives and release from darkness for the
         prisoners. Isaiah 61:1
Pray for Christians to be released from prison.
       “The night before Herod was to bring Him to trial,
        Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound
        with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the
        entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared.
         …. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up.
         ‘Quick, get up!’ he said, and the chains fell off
         Peter’s wrists.” Acts 12:6-7
Intercede for governmental reform in those countries and regions of the world where laws restrict religious freedoms.
         “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers,
          intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone
          …..for kings and all those in authority that we may
          live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and
          holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1-2
Ask God to grant boldness to those who are witnessing to their captors or fellow prisoners.
         “Paul replied, Short time or long, I pray God that not
         only you but all who are listening to me today may
          become what I am, except for these chains.”
          Acts 26:29
